Real Techniques & E.L.F. Cosmetic brushes review
Hey guys! Today it's something a little bit different! I've been looking for make-up brushes for a while now and have finally took the plunge after hours of internet research. I ordered brushes from Real Techniques and e.l.f. Cosmetics to try out, and here's my review (yay for vlogs!) Click to read in words form instead of watching if that's your jam.
Left to right: e.l.f. Cosmetics Kabuki Face Brush (USD$6), Real Techniques Powder Brush (USD$9.90) & Blush Brush(USD$9)
These brushes all have been raved by the internet for both their quality and amazing prices. They are definitely inexpensive as brushes go, especially compared to the likes of Mac, Sigma etc. They're all synthetic brushes, super soft to the touch and very dense.
I have no complaints about any of them whatsoever, and I think that especially the RT ones are very pretty (and light)! I use the e.l.f. one for liquid foundation, the RT powder brush for setting powder/compact foundation and the blush brush for, well, blush. I tried them all out today and they are super easy to use, with no hair fall-outs so far and does exactly what they're meant to do.
One note is that the RT blush brush is rather a big and soft one, which does a soft and faded blush fine, but if you're into blush that's more precise and dense, then this might take more time to build up and work. The RT powder brush is also quite big, so it's a no-go for precise foundation application. Same goes for the kabuki brush, which does buffing and airbrush effects amazingly while lacking in stifling and build-up.
I know US beauty products are pretty hard to get in Hong Kong, but I was lucky to discover iHerb.com, which looked dodgy at first but after more googling, turned out to be a gem! They ship for USD$8 worldwide with DHL express, and only took two working days to arrive. Needless to say I was pretty impressed. Googling for coupon codes also help, because I got a whopping $5 off my entire first order (pretty sure someone else got some reward too though...) So, if you're a newbie or make-up junkie, I definitely recommend these brushes and the site (NOT advertising though!) Let me in on the secrets and tips on make-up and brushes if you have any!
Till next time,xx
