5 must-have criterias for phone cases

Okay, so you're looking at the latest Moschino phone case, or some awesome styles from Candies Gift. But haven't you ever bought a phone case, used it for a day or two and then realise... it is an absolute pain in the arse?! Whether it's the fit, the buttons, the design or just the material, I've listed out the top 5 things you need to look out for when you're shopping for a new phone case, so when you do splurge, you can be sure it's worth the money.

1) Can you press all the buttons? It goes without saying, but the most pressed things on our phones apart from the screen are the lock screen button, mute switch and volume controls. The best-designed phone cases would let you easily access any of the buttons and switches without you feeling like you’re in a thumb-wrestling match.

2) Can you charge your phone?Nowadays, people charge not just when they are at home, but also on the go with their portable chargers and fancy light-up cables. But some (or sad to say many of the cooler cases) don’t actually fit any other cable but the “official” ones. So if you’ve got other budget cables, make sure that the whole thing fits into the charging port. You can see how this will be a problem when you have to take the case off everytime it needs a charge… Been there done that! Same goes for headphone jacks.

3) Can you hold it comfortably? This one's for the people who just can't keep their hands off their phones. We all know and love the bedazzled phone cases; covered in Swarovski crystals and sometimes even 3D cartoon characters and whatnots. But if you’ve used it before, you would know just how uncomfortable they are on your hands. Not only are they heavy, the crystals sometimes even cut into your palm, leaving a temporary tattoo of Hello Kitty’s face. So make sure you are happy with it’s shape and size before you buy!

4) Can you see your screen? It might not happen as often anymore, but some cases can cover up a part of your screen, for example covering up the entire border and just showing the home button and screen. If it’s well designed, then you might not have any problems, but if it’s not? You’ll be fuming trying to press the DONE button.

5) Does it trap dust? You might not think much about it at first, but actually some hard plastic cases (actually most) tend to trap dust inside the case, and with time it’ll scratch the surface of your phone. Although this is definitely not a deal-breaker, it’s something to keep in mind if you want to keep a pristine phone.

So what do you think? Are there any more tips and tricks you have for spotting the perfect case? Let me know down in the comments below!
